another day gone by

December 20th, 2006 | Posted by keltie in Day-to-day things... - (0 Comments)

It is so hard to believe the it is already December 20th. It seems the time has just flown by, and I’m having a hard time catching up. I am all done school now, and it feels great. I really enjoy school, but its always so refreshing to be done. And next semester I only have 3 classes to finish my diploma! Phil works until Friday and then he is off until January 2nd. We are both going to work over the holidays a bit, and relax a lot.

Our Christmas plans this year are…. On Saturday the 23rd till Christmas eve we will be in Nanaimo with Aunt Wanda, and Tra. That will be so much fun, they are our other family that is near by and we are very excited to start this yearly tradtion to spend a night with them at Christmas. On Christmas eve, we will be attending our church service with my mom, and then going to some Christmas eve parties, perhaps at the Nymans and the Endalls. After we will come home and open one gift, which is always pj’s and just hang out. We will either open our gifts at midnight, or first thing on Christmas morning, we’ll see how we feel…hehe. Then on Christmas day we are going to the Endalls for Eggs Benedict, which is one my absolute favourite parts, this will be the 20th year I’ve gone :) For the rest of the day we will relax, maybe watch some movie and then have Christmas dinner :) it will be such a wonderful weekend. I am very excited!

Well, I best be back to making lunch!

Some not so good news

December 7th, 2006 | Posted by keltie in Day-to-day things... - (0 Comments)

Phil and I have had an eventful few days. Our car all of a sudden wouldnt reverse. Thinking that we just needed to add transmission fluid, we decided to be pro-active and go straight to Can. Tire yesterday morning. Just to fill it up and find out that we still couldn’t reverse. After this we decided the best choice woudl be to take it to the shop which was only about a block away. We left it there and ventured on our way back to work/school.

Later that day, we were hoping that we would hear its fixed, and it was cheap but to our dismay it was not fixed and definatly not going to be cheap. Our WHOLE transmission needs to be replaced, and after everything it will run up a bill of a couple thousand dollars. YUCK!

We are callilng the dealer today, to get a full transmission diagnostic just to see if something had been missed or anything else we should know. Who knows whats in store for us. Should be an interesting weekend, making all these decisions.

Wish us luck… and lets all hope for a miracle

Bad news day

December 6th, 2006 | Posted by Phil in Day-to-day things... - (0 Comments)

So, today could have been better than it turned out.  Yesterday evening I was having issues with the car (it wouldn’t reverse anymore) so I got home and talked to Gary.  He suggested that the transmission fluid might be low, so we proceeded to go and check that out.  He was right that the transmission fluid was a little bit low, so we added some more but that didn’t solve the problem.  As he didn’t have a lot of transmission fluid Keltie and I went down early this morning to Canadian Tire to get some more, but we added a little bit more and that still didn’t help things, so I drove the car over to Kean auto and left it with Phil to take a look at.  Anyway, I ended up calling Kean auto late this afternoon and got some not-so-great news: that the transmission on the car had died, with the total repair bill likely being $2000 with a used transmission or closer to $3000 with a new transmission.

So, I now have to decide what to do – whether to go ahead and fix the car, or if it’s going to make more sense to sell/part it out and just get something else.  All in all not a great day, but I’ll admit that it could have been a lot worse, so I’m thankful that it’s the only thing that happened to me today.

A year engaged…

December 4th, 2006 | Posted by keltie in Wedding Stuff - (0 Comments)

Sunday, Phil and I celebrated [if its a celebration] that we’ve been engaged for a year. Some would say thats super exciting, and others would say thats way to long. I think that is what has been given to us, and we should be thankful for what we have.

We have 5 months and 5 days until our wedding, not that I’m counting down…. actually I cant even lie about that. I’ve been counting down since I could count less than a year. Phil and I are ready to be married! Its such an exciting time for us.

Invitations will go out next month! Hurrah… I really should finish them, and then we wait for R.S.V.P’s. Then I get to do table seating, flowers, party favours…. oh the joys of it. I have such great friends, Jen who stay up until 4 ;) making invites with me that was WAY to much fun, my sister who has been there for every teary phonecall, Linds who is just perfect being you and being there for me, and we get to be engaged at the same time… how fun is that. But really I’ve had my mom who’s been here for it all :)

I thought I’d show the transformation from last year to this….but the picture from last year wont upload but as soon as it does I’ll post it, until then… here’s us on Sunday nightkeltie and phil dec 3 2006

Well one thing for sure, we love eachother more each and every day, and look forward to the journey ahead of us, our future and all the joys in life that we will share together :)

Tonight, as we have been completely snowed in, Phil and I after being quite busy earlier decided we would make a late night dinner, as in 11:30… we made a yummy ham and cheese omletomlets. mmm mmm mmm!

After we had eaten and regained our energy, we thought it would be a good idea to enjoy the snow one last time before it melted away, especially since there is so much and its sooooo peaceful. So we walked around the blockkeltie walking!

Phil was able to show me where his snow bank extravaganza. That was kinda funny, he was totally excited to share all the little details, and even pointed out which tracks were his. :)

Then we got back to my place, and realized we’ve enjoyed looking at the snow so much but have not played in it at all. So I made a snow angelkeltie snow angel, and Phil frolicked around the yard, althought according to him it was tooo deep to frolickphil snowphil laugh.

Hopefully tomorrow it doesnt rain and make the roads worse, and I prefer the quietness of snow over rain.

Snowday x3

Well, a little while ago I just finished updating the College’s website to reflect the fact that the all-powerful “they” have decided to keep all College campuses closed again tomorrow.  It’s pretty rough-looking outside, though, so I can see why they would decide to close it.

A couple hours ago I tried to go out to get some milk (because we are completely out) but what should have been a 10 minute trip to the store ended up being an hour-long spin around the block, as I ended up getting stuck and needed lots of help to get out.  Ah well, it was an adventure for sure.  It would have been a better adventure if Keltie wasn’t worried, though… I was in such a rush to try and get out (and I have such a one-track mind) that when I ran down to get Gary to help get me out I totally forgot to call, her, so when I finally did she was a little annoyed, to say the least.  Everything turned out fine, though, so no harm done :) .

Another Snow Day!

November 29th, 2006 | Posted by keltie in Day-to-day things... - (0 Comments)

Today, I woke up to see the “Important Message” on the college website, just to read that once again we have a snow day due to the poor conditions. At first I was very excited about this, as I was able to sleep in, not having to go outside and can enjoy the snow… but then I realized how close to the end of the semester we are. Today for example… I was to hand in my Professional Selling term project, and had a review of Advertising and Promotion. And, we had already missed these 2 classes on the previous snowday. With exams approaching, missing many days of school could be devastating as there is still lots of material to be learned. Hmm. Maybe tomorrow will be back to normal, and we wont lose anymore time, but just in case, I will be diligent and work on homework today.

Last night we had our weekly Setterssettlers of catan night at Sam and Naomi’s. Its always fun to go over and hang out… and last night was a special night…. it was CEREAL night. Everyone brought cereral and we ate it… mmm mmm mmm. We had all kinds, and no doubles: Holiday Fruitloops [they look like they have snow on them], Alphabets, Golden Grahams, Oatmeal Crisp, Frosted Mini wheats, and corn flakes. It was very yummy!

While we were there, Phil was telling Sam how he gets snow days, which escalated into the Stats, and holidays. Sam was saying he doesnt get snow days and was very sad… so today, we decided that since we had a snow day, we would take Sam a snowball. No, not the kind you throw at people, the yummy ones from Hot Chocolates. So we picked up some chocolates and dropped them off, unfortunatly he wasnt there so we actually dont even know if he liked it.

I guess that is all about our snow day… :)

Phil is AWESOME :)

So, to add to Phils fun… we had an awesome walk… it was just right out!kissing in the snow By the time we got home our cheeks were red and our noses cold, but that added to the experience!  phil and keltie parkSince we dont have a fireplace, we werent able to snuggle up in front of the fire place, so instead we snuggled on the couch for a while, which was just fine for me!  But, now I best be back to the homework!!!

Keltie is awesome!

November 26th, 2006 | Posted by Phil in Day-to-day things... - (0 Comments)

We went for an awesome walk today in our wonderful winter wonderland which welcomed wistful whispering. Oooh, I’m good :D I've been framed - by myself. Anyway, we wandered around for awhile, then went to the park where Keltie went swinging and I took random pictures Keltie Swinging and tossed balls of snow to her. Then we came home and had hot chocolate which was hot, actually, mine was just the right warmth because I added too much cream to it. And now we’re just hanging out and I’m helping Keltie work on her homework so that she can come to Emmaus tonight. The end of the beginning.
