its sewing time!

June 13th, 2007 | Posted by keltie in Wedding Stuff - (0 Comments)

Prior to the wedding, I thought I would be adventurous and try sewing again. I used to sew a bit when I was younger and I remember it being fun and quite simple, providing you pick the simple patterns. So, I went out and bought some wonderful material for 3 skirts, and a pair of PJ bottoms. Now thinking that I had time before the wedding, I really thought I would get this done, well I didn’t.

Yesterday, I was out with a friend and we were shopping around, checking things out, and I was really wanting to BUY a skirt, but I knew that if I took the time I would have 3 skirts of which I’ve already paid for. So, I came home last night, cut my pattern, cut my fabric, went to my parents and tada I have a new skirt. It hardly took me anytime, perhaps 1.5 hours in total!!! Being motivated by my success, I woke up this morning and started on my next one. I realized while unpacking things, I actually have material for 4 skirts, so this shall keep me busy for a little while! And the best part it my wardrobe is now updated for summer fun skirts! :) Hurrah, and skirts will definitaly come in handy this summer.

Not only because I enjoy wearing them, I am attending 3 weddings, I graduate, going to a birthday bash, and Lindsay and I decided that we’d be going on a double date so they will be well used!

I’m very excited for my new hobby, I’m looking forward to what I sew up next!

Wow, its been quite a while since I’ve updated, and a lot has happened!

Well the big event… on May 12, Phil and I finally!!! got married! We had a beautiful wedding in Filberg Park, and the day couldnt be more perfect. We had a sunny day, with no clouds and just a hint of a breeze which was actually very nice! Pictures went amazingly… check them out on our wedding page! I’ll be adding more soon, as well as pictures of our honeymoon :)

I was so impressed with how well the wedding day went, everything we planned for happened, people did what they were suppose to do, and we started on time! Which is a huge thing to me! It was a great day for Phil and I to see old friends and meet new ones. To finally meet family we hadnt met, and the greatest part of the day, is we were married!

We stayed at the Kingfisher Resort for 2 nights…. it was awesome… room and resort were incredible. Then we went to Tofino, for 5 days, we stayed at The Pacific Sands Resort. Our room was amazing…. we were on the 3rd floor, had a private hottub on our deck, an incredible view of Cox Bay! We spent a lot of time just enjoying the peacefulness of the view and the beaches.

Most of the time we were out on the beaches, taking pictures and just enjoying eachother. We went out to eat lots! mmm food…we were lucky enough to eat at the Wikininish Resort… holy smokes, the best meal I’ve ever had in my life, and Phil says the same thing!!!

When we got back home, Phil still had a week off before he had to go back to work! So that was nice, we got our home set up, and got into some sort of routine. Although we dont feel that we are totally there yet we will get it soon!

Overall, the change has not been hard. We have both been so ready to live with eachother and be married that when we were finally married it was more exciting than anything else. Hurrah for being married!

I start work this week, it will be casual for a little while and then my ideal is to work 4 days. Should be fun!

Anyway, I must go, my Husband :) is making breakfast, and I should go help!

Well, this weekend was a busy weekend, as the wedding seems to get closer I seem to get busier, weird ;) . Anyway, on Friday night Shannon and Jason arrived! Way awesome, they got in late though so we did limit how long we stayed up and talked, although apparently not super well, as we were up until midnight anyway :)

Saturday was also a good.fun day! Phil and I picked up Rachel from the airport and went for lunch, then Phil was off to his stag [which included paintballing, food, bowling and other games afterwards], I went home to find that at 3p.m. I would be kicked from my home and would no longer be able to know ANYTHING about what the night would hold for me.

Lindsay picked me up and took me for coffee, and then we went to her parents house. That is where I found out the theme of our party, I opened a huge gift and inside was my awesome 80′s outfit that I would get to sport for the night! It was awesome, a side pony-tail, slouch-socks, stretchy pants, and awesome makeup!

The night was eventful!!! We had a photo scavenger hunt where 13 80′s ladies were running around town, that was a sight to see, we had games at the house. And lots of food! By the end of it, I was exhausted, but it was sooo much fun!

Shannon and Lindsay did such an awesome job planning this and I am sooo blessed to have them in my life! You guys Rock!

Now, for Sunday, Jeanne hosted a wonderful bridal shower, there were friends from highschool, friends of my moms, friends from church! It was great fun! We had lot of time to talk, laugh, take pictures :) oh, the wonder of it all :)

Anyway, today, Shannon and Rachel have dress fittings, and I have appointments, and we get to pay for the hotel! How fun is that! :) Well I best be going as I have to take my man to work!

Wow, this month is a very exciting month! Today is my 21st birthday !!!! And in 11 Days I will be Mrs. Schalm…. weird, a Mrs!!!

Things have been super busy around here…. over the last few months Phil had received boxes of things from growing up, and we neglected to go through them up until 2 weeks ago, when they were taking over! After HOURS of sorting, we got rid of tons, have a pile of garage sale, and have nicely boxed up what we will keep!

I have also been busy, I have painted our new house – upstairs… the master bedroom and the bathroom. I have been moving stuff over, organizing my old bedroom. Getting party favors, programs, bubbles, seating cards, seating plans, thank you cards… the list goes on, done! I have been meeting with photographers, ministers, musicians, etc. so that everything is ready!

But now, I look and realize everything is surely coming together! It will be wonderful… and like my dad said, by the end of the day on Saturday May 12, no matter what happens to get there, or what goes wrong. Phil and I will be MARRIED and that is the most important part!

1 month away

Well, it is officially one month until the wedding! It’s kind of crazy to think it’s so close, it has been a long time coming, and in some ways the day is sneaking up on us!

We are getting very excited around here and wedding busyness has begun. I am now working on the final ‘crafts’ for the day, and am so grateful to everyone who is going to and has helped bring everything together!

My mom and I headed down to the park the other day and decided how the ceremony would run and who would be where, and how we’d come in! It’s going to be awesome!!!

I am all done classes now, so I just have exams left, 1 Saturday and then 2 next week, which works well because then I have some time to relax and finish up details before guests start arriving for the festivities :)

My First Bridal Shower

April 4th, 2007 | Posted by keltie in Wedding Stuff - (1 Comments)

Last Saturday, Lorri and Lindsay, 2 very close friends of mine, hosted a bridal shower for me. It was soo much fun, when I arrived about 15 wonderful ladies were there wanting to share in this special time with me!! It was such an encouragement having all their support and now it seems the wedding is quickly approaching!

We played fun games, including unscramble the words, whats in your purse, memory tray and one ‘scary’ one for me, How well does the BRIDE know the GROOM. when they announced it, I was immediatly nervous as I wasnt sure if I would know the answers, but I’m pleased to report I got all 15 questions right! How awesome is that!

Phil and I were also VERY spoiled! We have lots of new kitchen gadgets, including knifes, baking pans, dishtowels and brooms :D It was lots of fun!

5 1/2 weeks till wedding :D

Check out some new pictures on our website, of the bridal shower :D

Spring has Sprung

March 27th, 2007 | Posted by keltie in Day-to-day things... | Wedding Stuff - (0 Comments)

Finally, the weather has shifted and we are having SUNSHINE and warmth! I absolutly LOVE it! I cant say that once the weather changed, I turned in my runners for flip-flops, as maybe 1 month ago, I decided it was time for spring, and started to wear them! haha.

Wedding is nearly here, 6.5 weeks for those of you counting ;) . Pretty exciting, it will be here before we know it. Things are getting busy which is fun. Between shopping, dress fittings, consultations, making appointments, seating plans, party favours, and everything else in between I’m keeping myself pretty busy. But I have been so blessed to have people around [my mom, Lindsay, Shannon, Lorri] to help with so much!

I am starting to feel like “Bride” now which is fun, 2 great friends, have taken time to plan a Bridal Shower for me, they are so wonderful. It takes place this saturday, so I’ll update you on how fun it is! Since its shower time for me, Phil and my dad are going to take off to Campbell River, to find a pool hall, and as my dad says ‘do guy things’ for the day! That will be fun for them!

But, thats all for now….

Less than 2 months away…

March 14th, 2007 | Posted by keltie in Wedding Stuff - (0 Comments)

YEAH! We are less than 2 months away from our wedding. Its coming so quick now, and we are both SUPER excited. Plans are all in place, we have a few things left to do, but now its more little things and fun things! Cant Wait!!

Yesterday, was a fabulous day, when my best friend got married :) . Lindsay and Ben surrounded by family and friends had a simple, elegant, beautiful wedding. The ceremony was at the Baptist church, with a intimate reception to follow at the local yacht club. Everything ran smoothly and it was a perfect day. Lindsay looked amazing… we liked to call it the royal wedding, as she resembled Cinderella, and Ben is British.. so it works. :)

I will try to post pictures soon, but we have had troubles with pictures on here so who knows!

Invitations!

January 25th, 2007 | Posted by keltie in Wedding Stuff - (0 Comments)

It seems that these invitations have taken me forever to complete… wait, they have taken me forever to complete. I have realized that everything that could go wrong with making invitations, I managed to encounter.

Being proactive, Jen and I started the invitations journey in August, the store I was going ot buy the pink cardstock from was out, and not getting more, so I found some that was very similar at another local store, they only have 20 sheets, so I bought them, as I was informed that more would be here in the next week or two. I waited and waited and they never came, so I now had 30 invitations that were done and about 48 more to go. About 2 months later I went in to inquire about the paper, to learn that the paper I had chosen had been discontinued, [they knew for about 6 weeks and never informed me]. I had no idea what I was going to do.

Leapenhi, a local paper shop where I bought most of my supplies was more helpful and ordered in a special paper just for me, but it would take about 3 weeks to arrive. When it finally done, I was well into midterms and had no time to make invitations, but at least I had all my supplies.

In December, we realized that since we did not have any RSVP, accomodation etc. info. on the invitation we would also have to make “further information” cards. Thinking this would be simpler, we were soon shown it wouldnt be as easy as we thought. After many attempts we figured out a style that would suit the invitation just fine.

Last week, my mom, Lindsay and I worked hard to finish the other 48 invitations, and to get the further informations cards done as well. Phil, has been most wonderful in helping with ALL the printing, he printed 18 sheets of further information on the pink vellum, to only learn later that there was a spelling error. We once again had to adjust what the color was going to be, as when I went back to the store there were only 6 sheets of pink left. But, all and all it was all worked out.

The problem remaining is that I ordered 65 mini envelopes that match the large envelopes over 2 weeks ago, but do to Christmas just happening things are slow and they have yet to arrive, but should be here tomorrow, as they have been tracked to Vancouvers :)

Thinking I’ve overcome all the obstacles, I went to the post office to weigh the invitations as we had been given ‘picture postage’ for Christmas, which are the equivalent of a regular stamp, so up to 30grams, I went in and they weigh…. 33grams. How dispointed so the price jumps. But we’ve got it all figured! Finally!

Invitations will be going out next week! Hurrah! It will be wonderful to have one less wedding thing to worry about. :) Yippie!
