Day 6

July 20th, 2009 | Posted by Phil in Holidays 2009 | Uncategorized

Our journey continues … today was the last full day of the retreat, so we made sure to enjoy all of it. The workout this morning was a little bit lighter (just a run, rather than a full body assault like yesterday) but I was so out of it that I slept in until just a little bit before we took off for breakfast.

After breakfast we had “the amazing race”. We broke into teams – well, when the guys all got there after a quick game of basketball on the mini nets we were informed of the teams – of guys vs. girls. Bob, the dude in charge of the challenge, explained how things worked, then we all took off. The basic idea was to complete tasks for points, and the most points won. There was a sheet with questions relating to Woodloch that needed to be answered, 2 sheets of “doing” tasks (which required pictures as proof of completion), and 3 puzzle sheets. As the guys had 2 camera phones, we split into three groups – 1 for each of the “doing” sheets, then myself and John to work on the puzzle sheets. (The question sheet was done throughout the other tasks). We had 50 minutes to complete the challenge, and complete it we did! Due to a technicality our score was lower than it should have been, but we still came out the victorious team due to the heroic effort of the picture takers, who probably covered the entire lodge area 2-3 times in the 50 minutes. The guys got medals (which we unfortunately don’t have pictures of), then we went and played a bit more bball before lunch.

After lunch we started off with a couple rounds of bumper boats (which was great fun!) then did a bit of hanging out around the pool and lake area. Mark and I took off for home a bit early to work on a slideshow of all the photos we’d taken over the course of the retreat.

After dinner we attempted some more jumping photos (and got an alright one or two) then headed back to house 542 for games night. We had two games – the first one was a blind tasting test game (with lots of sweet stuff), and the second was a game where you went around the group of people with each person describing a situation they’d been in (the more specific the better). If no one else could say they’d been in an identical situation (to the length at which you’d described it), then you would get a point. Otherwise everyone who could say they’d been in that situation would get a point (and you didn’t get any). Both those games were a lot of fun.

Following the games, we watched the Synergema retreat slideshow, then finished off the night with a few of us busting out some serious foosball. And now it’s now and I’m writing this blog post. Well, I guess I’m done for now. Missing all of you (even those not reading) back in the valley, and we hope you’re all miserable and having no fun without us. Well, not really, but we are hoping you’re not having too much fun without us.

Anyway, on to some pictures of the day!
