An autumn day!

October 22nd, 2008 | Posted by keltie in Uncategorized - (1 Comments)

I love fall! There is just so much about it which is wonderful… the crisp mornings, red noses, scarfs, cozy fires, yummy coffees… and so much more! I love the decor of fall, and fall colors! It’s just a wonderful season.

Today is a perfect fall day! It is sunny, but crisp out. I was out weeding, and when I came in my nose was red! I think that now it’s time for a pumpkin spice latte! So it’s a perfect autumn day!

Onto a more serious note/ update: Phil has been working like a mad-man, but that’s life these days it seems! Oh well! Things will be slowing down now (for serious yay!!)! I am loving my new job! The bible study we will be attending started last week, so tonight is night #2 which is awesome — we are going through the book “respectable sins” by Jerry Bridges, so far it’s good (i’ve only read 2 chapters).

Overall life is good!! And just incase you wanted to know — my next favorite time of the year is Christmas — and Christmas is 63 days away!!!

A post with no name.

I feel lost of words for a title… and I hope that doesn’t continue on to a loss of words for a post.

Last night we carved pumpkins with our youth group! We had 6 youth show up, pumpkins in hand and off we went. We have some pretty artistic kids in the bunch, and I have to say our row of pumpkins were pretty sweet!!

This weekend, has been a lazy weekend. We had planned on going away (since I had today off, and normally will be working Saturday’s), but plans changed and we laid low and hung out around here. It was nice, we haven’t had a lot of quiet days at home, so I can honestly say I appreciated it.

Since Phil had to work this afternoon for a bit, I headed over to mom & dads to watch a movie with my lovely sister!! Yay! It was fun :o ) I enjoyed it a lot! She’s been living here since the beginning of Sept. and we had all this big plans of always hanging out — well it hasn’t happened as we though, so I’ve enjoyed the time we are indeed spending together!!

Tomorrow we are on music team, Phil is bassing it up this week (yay — I love it when he plays bass, and when he’s played drums a lot, he enjoys the change of pace) Then I will be off to a babyshower in the afternoon, then we think another low key evening at home will be in need!

Maybe next time, it will be a post with a name and more…

Half full… overflowing

Today was a wonderful day at church! 2 of my favorite days a year, are thanksgiving and newyears, because we have a time to ‘share’ instead of just a time to listen. Today people were given the opportunity to share what they are spiritually thankful for. The reason to being specific to spiritual thankfulness is that we know God is a God of provision in providing for our physical needs, and without fail we can all say we are thankful for those, but what are we thankful spiritually, or who are we thankful spiritually for encouraging us, or what can we encourage others with.

It was so great to hear what God has done in peoples lives, or what verse(s) he’s laid on them that have helped them through hard times. I don’t actually like to speak much in public, and especially about me, but over time I know what I feel like when God places something in my heart to share. I’m jittery and my hands are clammy, and I know as soon as I speak I’ll be relaxed again. So following that I got up and shared….

I(we) are thankful for our church family, and the people who are there who encourage us to be God centered people, who challenge us out of love and caring. They make Phil and I better people, and help us to have the desire to be more Christ like. I also shared a public thank-you to a friend of mine, who has challenged me in my faith, and has been there for me through tough times, who can be honest with me, and share with me. Someone who I respect as a follower of Christ and cherish as a friend.

I am a very blessed person, and am very thankful for everyone who is my life! You are all there for different reasons, different times but have and will help me become the person I’m suppose to be.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Fall has definitely arrived, mornings are crisp, windows are lightly frosted, and when I breathe out you can see my breath! I love fall, I love everything about it… the colors, the temperature, wearing sweaters & scrafs… and for the most part here, it hasn’t started to down pour yet, so it is perfect!!

3 other things I love about fall are, pumpkin spice lattes (From starbucks, probably the only time of the year that I consistently go there), pumpkin spice icecream (from hot chocolates and what isn’t good there), and lastly pumpkin pie. You see there is a theme here… I find that the latte is “yummy fall in a cup”, the icecream is just so tastey and so unusual, who knew pumpkin pie could be icecream form… and well pumpkin pie is tradition and delicious.

This Thanksgiving, we have our 1st company for a holiday (spending nights with us), Phil’s friend Paul from Winnipeg and his girlfriend Kristie, and our favorite cousin Tra!! Phil went to pick up everyone tonight, while I set up house. Everything was basically ready, except beds… which are indeed an important part. Still not sure of the sleeping plans, as we have 3 people, staying and really only 1 extra bed, and 1 couch. I think that we may set the boy’s up together, or Tra (lucky guy) gets the living room! It will be great either way! I love company, I love entertaining.

Our house is nicely decorated for fall and thanksgiving. Phil recently said, we need to add ‘cute things’ to our budget, as I often come home with decor and am always saying “isn’t it cute”! I got all of our candles out and light them at night, which is so incredibly cozy!

Tomorrow night I’ll make a dinner for the 5 of us, and my big sister Shannon, and Jason. Then on Sunday we’ll head to the Endall’s for dinner #2. This year we are going to celebrate American thanksgiving as well (which is my moms tradition), since mom and dad are away, and this is definitely fine by Phil and I!!

I know I always say “I’ll be sure to post photos”, but I’ve decided posting photos on here is hopeless, but I will start updated my flickr again with photos of our weekend, and I’ll let you know when I do!

So… on a more serious note… things I am thankful for:

My wonderful Husband – who I love and adore, and who blesses me everyday!
My family! (immediate, in-laws, extended) – I love you all, and you are so important to me, in so many ways!
My friends – you show me what true friends are suppose to be, God has blessed me with the perfect friends.
My church family – Phil and I are so blessed to be part of a loving, faithful church family.
Ultimately I am so thankful for my life, God has richly blessed me in more ways than imaginable, and I am forever grateful.

“It is well, it is well, it is well with my soul” (This song was playing as I was writing!)

And we’re back…

It doesn’t feel like my last post was September 24th, but I suppose it was. I’ve been so busy that things truly feel like they are flying by. So since then….

While in Ontario we had a wicked stagette for Rachel — there were 5 of us, and we all wore marty-graw masks and jewels! Our hair was big and fun! We headed out for dinner, dessert — and then to really mix things up we went to karaoke!! Woohoo! Rachel was the first to sing (obviously since it was her party) and then we had lots of group songs. We became the most popular people there (I’m sure it was because of our super-awesomeness…. but have had something to do with our masks, and genuine fun we were having). We arrived home at about 1:30a.m. and had to catch some zzz as the wedding was in 3 days!

The next couple days were fully of craziness, getting everything together, dinners, more getting things done… and then decorating and rehearsal. That night when we arrived home, giddiness and excitement filled the house — as in few a few more hours Rachel would be married! Yay!!

The wedding was amazing! Rachel was a stunning bride – and smiled the whole time, anyone who saw her could tell she was truly happy and definitely enjoying herself. Everyone was happy and had a great day!! The wedding had to be inside due to weather — but all the pictures were taken outside (yay)!! But just in case, I went out and bought all of them umbrellas! Rachel’s was extra special – a black umbrella with white polka dots… and to top it off, rubber boots too!! It was too much fun! Then dinner and a dance! We got home about 2a.m. and just crashed! It was a wonderful, perfect wedding day!!

Sunday was the gift opening for the newly married Iacobucci’s, and then soon after they headed on their way to start their life together. Phil and I slept most of Sunday afternoon, as we were starting to run on fumes, and needed to rest up a bit.

Monday was our last day there — the morning was spent relaxing, and then Phil and Dad Schalm spent some time together, while me and Mom Schalm went out together. That afternoon we got some ‘fall’ pictures taken – since the colors there are much more fall-like then here. Once we were home, Mom Schalm taught me how to make “hot german potato salad” which is Phil’s favorite and he’s been wanting it since before we were married! (I made it 2 days after we got home too)

Tuesday was an eventful day — in the short we were suppose to land at 1:30 – but landed at 7:30 instead, getting us home around 8:15 — so we had been up for close to 20 hours by the time we went to bed… it was exhausting… but we travelled safe, and made it home, luggage in hand!!

Since being home, we have both been back to work, lots of work. This week has been a bit better of slowing down and getting things back together! Which is good, we needed that.

Well, on that note I still have some things to get done today before I’m back at work tomorrow!!!
