Nearly here… nearly there

Rachel’s wedding is fast approaching (yay)!! She will be Mrs. Iacobucci come Saturday! How exciting. Excitement, anticipation and of course stress levels are all high around, but we are doing out best to alleviate any stress for Rae so she can enjoy her day!!!

Phil and I are obviously still in Ontario… Phil has unfortunately had to work most of the trip, but we’ve still managed to steal some time away too. We’ll be coming home next Tuesday — and then it is straight back to work for us, and I doubt we’ll be going away anymore this year.

sunday, sunday…

From the title, I bet you guessed it… it is Sunday indeed. I’m not feeling very inspired today for a blog title, or even as to what I’m going to write about yet… hmm….

We are still in Ontario (will be for another week), last night we headed to the beach (and for you BCers I don’t mean a sandy beach, I mean a lake beach, with lots of big rocks to climb all over). The 5 of us (Phil, me, Rachel, dad and mom Schalm) headed down for a fire (hotdogs, and yummy smores) and lots of photography. It was a great evening, very relaxing and such an amazing sunset. I was in awe a few times over the night when I happen to look up at the most perfect time to see His creation, and how intricate and beautiful it is. Lately, Phil and I have been so busy, that we have not been taking to the time to recognize how many blessings we have around us. We have been recognizing this and are trying to be more aware of what is around us, God’s amazing creation, and what we’ve been blessed with!! Last night we were very blessed… we were able to be out in God’s creation enjoying the incredible scenery, and we were with Phil’s family and able to enjoy fellowship together and spend time together!!

Today, we attended the church that mom & dad Schalm attend… it was HUGE! Right now the sanctuary seats about 800, but has room to seat upto 1000! Quite a bit bigger than our home church which sits about 100. It is a new church building, an is very well done… one highlight being the youth room — which we have to agree was pretty cool.

After church we headed to the marina for some family photos, and we ended up (in my opinion) getting some great ones. I’m looking forward to the weekend, when we’ll be able to get a family photo of all 6 of us!!

Now, like we often do on a Sunday afternoon, for some quiet down time!! A.K.A = nap time!

2 for the night…

And just in case you were wondering…..

No need to worry, we did indeed land!

We are here, safe and sound!! We arrived in Toronto last night about 9:30 then drove to Belleville getting in around 1ish I believe. Trip was good, flight was uneventful (which my dad always says is a good thing).

Day 1: Didn’t sleep in (Phil did), got up and helped un-twist these paper things for pew markers for the wedding… I got a blister from it, but it was a job well done!! Then this afternoon, my mother-in-law, showed me how to make her lasagna/pasta sauce… she and my mom cook very similar… WITHOUT a recipe… it is great for them, awful for me, cause how the heck am I suppose to get recipes from them and cook like them… especially since this is the 1st opportunity I’ve had to cook with Phil’s mom.. I guess I’ll have to have a good memory, and perhaps write things down as we go (now why didn’t I think of that earlier)

Tomorrow, I’m not sure what the day will hold, but in the evening we are going to the drag races! I’ve never been so I’m really excited!!

I’ve also been busy working on our church directory — when I volunteered to do it, I didn’t realize how much work really goes into one.. and that I’d be so picky. Which I suppose could be a good thing, makes everything look nice. So far, we have 43 families, but only 24 pictures (a photo directory), so I’m hoping that the picture count goes up (and the family count does not go down).

We’re leaving on a jet plane…

On Wednesday we are that is. We are off to Ontario for the wedding of Phil’s sister! Yay!! I can’t believe how fast it has come. I don’t feel ready to go away again, I feel like we just got back (wait we did, last week). I work today and tomorrow, and then am off till we leave which is awesome, it will give me time to wrap up unfinished business before we head out. Such as, cleaning house, packing, returning keys, and the lovely banking that needs to be done. Then, we are off, for 2 weeks. I will have the entire time off, Phil on the otherhand will be working while we are away… part of life.. but the nice thing is, he can pack up his computer and phone and work from anywhere… so that makes it easy to go away!

I started a new job last week, and had more trianing this week… will be full fledged into it when we get back, so that is exciting. Tomorrow is my last day at ‘be’ and I’m sad to be leaving, but excited to be moving onto new adventures!

Well, I guess it’s time to get back to work…

a new appreciation…

The church that Phil and I attend, meets in a school gym… we’ve been attending for 4 years, and have never experienced the need to cancel church (actually we have once or twice, due to high amounts of snow). This year, actually in August, church was cancelled for 3 weeks. There are some serious school district changes going on, and it affected us being able to utilize the space.

Over these weeks, my perspective on ‘going to church’ has changed. There are some sundays, when I am lying in bed and think, I could just stay here, and have no desire to get up, get ready and head to church. Somedays I feel like its soo much work to get there. But, when I am told I can’t go, that it is not an option, my perspective has been changed.

I take advantage of thing, I go when I ‘feel’ like it, and can sometimes can decided I don’t feel like it, and miss out. I’ve realized, that I can’t continue on like this. My perspective has to change… I am sure it will, as I’m learnign a lot lately, and I’m sure that somedays when I’m in bed, I will have the same battle… but now I am aware of this, and appreciate meeting together as a church even more.

busy, busy, busy….

I can hardly believe it is September, I was in Wal-mart and my fridge calendar is out again, which means it is nearly a new year… Crazy!

Phil and I have been super busy lately… Phil has been overloaded with work, pushing sites, finishing sites, getting deadlines met, staying up all night and all day working, oh and he plays soccer too — and is still the best husband around. I’ve been busy working, and trying to maintain somewhat of an organized life… so far we are surviving.

Last weekend, we headed to Salmon Arm for Phil’s grandparents 50th anniversay!! 50 years, Phil and I hope we make it to 50 years, We’ve actuallly decided 60 is our goal.. we’ll be 81 years old then, which we think is a good goal. We got to spend some time with Phils parents, which is always great, since we usually only see them once a year (this year it will be 3 times)! Got to meet all sort of family, who knew who we were but we had no idea who they were… funny how that happens. After Salmon Arm, we headed back to Abbotsford, to visit friends… so fun to see Jeff and Lyndene! And on Monday night, we headed out on an adventure with Jen, who is at Trinity Western for her 3rd year. Tuesday we got back home!

Now, these next 2 weeks are INSANE!! Phil has lots to get done before we leave…. normal work, plus 3 additonal websites that need to be finished up. I am working 2 jobs (a new one at Vans Portraits, and finishing up at Be). On top of work, we of course have youthgroup, worship, soccer, and of course somewhat of a social life.

But once these 2 weeks are done, we’ll be on a plane to Ontario for the wedding of Phil’s sister!! How exciting!! It will be nice to get away, and have somewhat of no responsibility and be able to ‘relax’, and enoy! And we get to spend more time with phil’s family, which is something we always look forward too!

So, thats what we’ve been up to, and what we are going to be up to…

I know, I know….

It has been too long since my last post, and I wished that I would be able to fix that now with a good full post! But I am just about to run out the door for my 1st day of training @ Vans Portraits.. so no time! But I will be back to update… we’ve been away to Salmon Arm & Abbotsford on the weekend for a ton of visiting, busy with work, jobs, and of course playing… but, the details will all come later!!

On a side note — I really can’t believe it is September — and even more can’t believe that our calendar is already full to the max!!
