Invitations! January 25, 2007
It seems that these invitations have taken me forever to complete… wait, they have taken me forever to complete. I have realized that everything that could go wrong with making invitations, I managed to encounter.
Being proactive, Jen and I started the invitations journey in August, the store I was going ot buy the pink cardstock from was out, and not getting more, so I found some that was very similar at another local store, they only have 20 sheets, so I bought them, as I was informed that more would be here in the next week or two. I waited and waited and they never came, so I now had 30 invitations that were done and about 48 more to go. About 2 months later I went in to inquire about the paper, to learn that the paper I had chosen had been discontinued, [they knew for about 6 weeks and never informed me]. I had no idea what I was going to do.
Leapenhi, a local paper shop where I bought most of my supplies was more helpful and ordered in a special paper just for me, but it would take about 3 weeks to arrive. When it finally done, I was well into midterms and had no time to make invitations, but at least I had all my supplies.
In December, we realized that since we did not have any RSVP, accomodation etc. info. on the invitation we would also have to make “further information” cards. Thinking this would be simpler, we were soon shown it wouldnt be as easy as we thought. After many attempts we figured out a style that would suit the invitation just fine.
Last week, my mom, Lindsay and I worked hard to finish the other 48 invitations, and to get the further informations cards done as well. Phil, has been most wonderful in helping with ALL the printing, he printed 18 sheets of further information on the pink vellum, to only learn later that there was a spelling error. We once again had to adjust what the color was going to be, as when I went back to the store there were only 6 sheets of pink left. But, all and all it was all worked out.
The problem remaining is that I ordered 65 mini envelopes that match the large envelopes over 2 weeks ago, but do to Christmas just happening things are slow and they have yet to arrive, but should be here tomorrow, as they have been tracked to Vancouvers
Thinking I’ve overcome all the obstacles, I went to the post office to weigh the invitations as we had been given ‘picture postage’ for Christmas, which are the equivalent of a regular stamp, so up to 30grams, I went in and they weigh…. 33grams. How dispointed so the price jumps. But we’ve got it all figured! Finally!
Invitations will be going out next week! Hurrah! It will be wonderful to have one less wedding thing to worry about.
Yippie!
