The arrival of Shannon and Jason
January 27th, 2007 | Posted by in Day-to-day things... - (1 Comments)It seems that these invitations have taken me forever to complete… wait, they have taken me forever to complete. I have realized that everything that could go wrong with making invitations, I managed to encounter.
Being proactive, Jen and I started the invitations journey in August, the store I was going ot buy the pink cardstock from was out, and not getting more, so I found some that was very similar at another local store, they only have 20 sheets, so I bought them, as I was informed that more would be here in the next week or two. I waited and waited and they never came, so I now had 30 invitations that were done and about 48 more to go. About 2 months later I went in to inquire about the paper, to learn that the paper I had chosen had been discontinued, [they knew for about 6 weeks and never informed me]. I had no idea what I was going to do.
Leapenhi, a local paper shop where I bought most of my supplies was more helpful and ordered in a special paper just for me, but it would take about 3 weeks to arrive. When it finally done, I was well into midterms and had no time to make invitations, but at least I had all my supplies.
In December, we realized that since we did not have any RSVP, accomodation etc. info. on the invitation we would also have to make “further information” cards. Thinking this would be simpler, we were soon shown it wouldnt be as easy as we thought. After many attempts we figured out a style that would suit the invitation just fine.
Last week, my mom, Lindsay and I worked hard to finish the other 48 invitations, and to get the further informations cards done as well. Phil, has been most wonderful in helping with ALL the printing, he printed 18 sheets of further information on the pink vellum, to only learn later that there was a spelling error. We once again had to adjust what the color was going to be, as when I went back to the store there were only 6 sheets of pink left. But, all and all it was all worked out.
The problem remaining is that I ordered 65 mini envelopes that match the large envelopes over 2 weeks ago, but do to Christmas just happening things are slow and they have yet to arrive, but should be here tomorrow, as they have been tracked to Vancouvers
Thinking I’ve overcome all the obstacles, I went to the post office to weigh the invitations as we had been given ‘picture postage’ for Christmas, which are the equivalent of a regular stamp, so up to 30grams, I went in and they weigh…. 33grams. How dispointed so the price jumps. But we’ve got it all figured! Finally!
Invitations will be going out next week! Hurrah! It will be wonderful to have one less wedding thing to worry about.
Yippie!
Yesterday, Phil and I were able to purchase a new-old car. We purchased a 1999 Toyota Corolla, 140,000 km, 5-speed manual, 4 door, silver car. We are very excited about this car as it fits all of the needs we decided were important to us. Now we are able to park in all parking spots and this car reverses wonderfully!
My standard driving skills are improving, Phil has informed me I just need to be more confident and I’ll do fine. Good news… I’ve only stalled once! Thats not too bad at all.
I’ll post some pictures once I get them on the computer!
Yesterday, Lindsay and I went to Victoria for a long time planned day trip. We have not been able to get away together just the 2 of us in…. well forever, and with the weddings coming up we were running out of time.
We wanted to go for the drive which is always great for chatting, but we also decided that for Christmas gifts this year, we would buy each other a fabulous Lululemon sweater!! It was so much fun! Lindsay did get a Lulu sweater, some capris and a headband. She got me a OQOQO (OH-COH-COH) sweater instead [which is Lululemon sister store, the clothing is all made of natural organic fabrics]. I was also able to find a BEAUTIFUL dress for there wedding, and it will be great for our honeymoon, and the best part is I now have a dress that is made out of BAMBOO! Crazy!
On the way home we stopped in Nanaimo where I was able to go to Michaels and use a much appreciated gift certificate from my future inlaws. I was finally able to purchase all of those scrapbooking tools that I’ve wanted, but have not been able to spend the money on. I am ready to scrapbook now!
It was such a fun day, we both really needed it and I am definatly looking forward to our next trip!
It has been such a long time since we have posted so I best give an update.
Christmas was wonderful, we had lots of fun with family and friends, we are so blessed to be surrounded by so many people who really love us! The holidays seem to have flown by and now we are back at school/work. But its nice to have routine again!
For New Years we were lowkey, we had a Christmas dinner with my parents as my Dad was not home for Christmas, then we had some friends over and played games till shortly after midnight where we welcomed in the New Year and soon were all off to bed.
This year holds a lot of excitement and busyness for us…. February 17th, one of my best friends is getting married. Then our wedding is May 12th! I CANT WAIT! June 30th will be the 3rd wedding planned so far that we will be attending. It seems so strange to be in this stage of life where our friends and us are all getting married.
We have had a not so great start to the year too, finding out that our car is unfixable, which is quite dissappointing. We thought we would have a good 5 years at least out of it. It has caused us to have to shift a lot of things and has forced us to discuss things in a more thorough sense which is good, but it is something I would have been okay wihtout. We are hoping to purchase a new car by February 5th as that is when our insurance runs out on the Contour.
I think that is all that has happened. Hopefully we are better at posting this year!
